THE HIDDEN TREASURES OF TUBUNGAN

Calachuchi Tree

AGE:    212 YEARS (1800-2012)
This calachuchi tree was planted in the late 18th century on the lot between the Roman Catholic Church and the new Municipal Building. The aged trunk is more or less forty feet tall and its thick-barked branches that gracefully spread, is about sixty feet in diameter. Every month of April and May, the tree teems with delicate and white flowers, which fills the air with its sweet scent. The scent of the calachuchi flowers gives the townpeople a feeling of home sickness. This tree is a witness of every progress of Tubungan.
